Darlington Branch Launches Junior Book Club!

First Featured Author - Sharon Creech

The Darlington Branch is launching a Junior Book Club and its first featured author is Sharon Creech!

Ms. Creech is an American writer of children's stories. She won the Newbery-Medal for Walk Two Moons and is a Newbery Honor winning author of The Wanderer.  Her other works include Bloomability, Absolutely Normal Chaos, Chasing Redbird, Pleasing the Ghost, Love That Dog, and Ruby Holler.  She was the first American winner of the Carnegie Medal for British children's books and the first person to win both the American Newbery Medal and the British Carnegie.

The Club is open to ALL 3rd - 5th  grade students...public, private, and homeschool.  Parents and reading coaches are welcome to join in!

To get involved, read one of Ms. Creech's many books that can be borrowed your public or school library.  Register for the book club at Surveymonkey . Your school's reading coach can accept your registration as well.

The Junior Book Club will meet at the Darlington Branch Library, 204 North Main Street, on Wednesday, October 26th from 4 - 5:30 pm.  We will talk about what you liked best about your selection, eats some snacks, and do a craft.

Come join in the chat and fun.

Hartsville Book Discussion

Join the Hartsville Library's Book Discussion Group.

The discussion group will meet on Tuesday, September 27, at noon at the Hartsville Country Club. We are reading and discussing ""The 6:41 to Paris" by Jean-Philippe Blondel. Copies of this title are available at the circulation desk of the Hartsville Memorial Library for readers that will attend the discussion. Please join us.

In October we will read local author, C. Hope Clark's "Murder on Edisto" . Peace, safety, a place to grieve and heal is what former Boston detective Callie Jean Morgan is looking for when she comes home to her family cottage in South Carolina. She is hoping to keep her teenage son safe from the Russian mob that killed her husband. Unfortunately she is being taunted by a killer who repeatedly violates her home and threatens others in the community.
