The Darlington County Library System is your place for information, insight, inspiration, and innovation. The Library offers a wide range of services, programs, and collections for all ages.
The Library has locations in Darlington, Hartsville, Lamar, and Society Hill. The System’s administrative offices are located in Darlington.
The Library is governed by an eight-member Board of Trustees appointed by the Darlington County Council. It meets the third Wednesday of each month at 5 p.m.
Most of the library’s funding is allocated by County Council. Some funding is received directly from the State of South Carolina through per capita funding. Our Friends’ organizations contribute significantly to our operations as do customer donations.
The Library is part of the Palmetto Polaris Library Consortium. It is made up of six members: Darlington, Dillon, Georgetown, Marion, Marlboro, and Sumter Counties. The integrated system allows our customers have access to a combined collection of over 850,000 items, including e-books and e-audiobooks.
